Fram wire backed Ultra XG2.

I still have to cut the media apart. It’s almost finished draining, but I figured I’d grab some pics of the inside of the can and how black the filter is at 1200mi. Once I cut the media, I’ll add it to this post. There was a lot more of this carbon material in the oil mix at the bottom of the can. I tried to run off the oil while keeping the grit in the can, but some of it made its way into the drain pan despite my efforts.

IMO with the low miles and HPL doing cleaning, if this app has the filter hanging dome end towards ground, this is where I’d personally look for a base-end bypass filter even if it may not filter quite as well as an OG XG. Plus, there’s a good chance those filters are less expensive as well. That way all the carbon that settles in the can has almost zero chance of migrating up and thru the bypass, even though that risk is nearly non-existent with only 1.2k on it.

IMO there’s nothing gained removing such a good filter at such low miles, even when using HPL.

It hangs at a 45 degree angle off the filter head of the engine.

It was removed to install an Amsoil Dual Bypass system. Figured since it was removed, I’d show its guts off, lol

Look at those ripples on the leaf spring. Good thing you replaced because it definitely doesn’t have the advertised efficiency. Thanks for the C&P.

Well, considering the leaf spring stamping is obviously letting all the oil leak around the media, it's a miracle the media caught anything at all /s. (/s, since I'm on record as saying the leaf spring issue is a nothing burger).

There's actually quite a bit of stuff in that media for a short drain with a "leaky" Ultra.

I wouldn't want any dirty oil bypassing the media, especially when there's that much cleaning debris going on.

I see no debris on any "clean side" parts.

Lots of little chunks. No evidence any of them made it through.
You don't know how many particles got through that leak over the use span based on that kind observation.

Maybe the big chunks clogged up the leaking ruffles. 😄

Go out on your glorified Toro and do some donuts in the yard. 😆

Ruffles and looks like some soot pieces on the media? Cleaning at this short duration.
I live on the side of a mountain. I wish I had a riding mower to dork around on! Lol

I’m at around 6000+ miles of HPL in the sump. The internals are highly carbonized when viewed with a borescope. Lots of crumbly yet gritty carbon material in every pleat of this filter.
