Fram Endurance oil filters.

For those looking to spend $16.99 on a Boss. If the louvers are open they are built well. But efficiency is 99%@46 microns. Probably the same as a leaking Endurance…
The Boss is still going to be worse as the micron size gets smaller compared to an Endurance with a 15% leak. That's because the Boss is pretty bad around 20u to start with. Ascent showed the Boss to be ~63% @ 20u. If the Endurance had a 15% leak, the efficiency at 20u would be ~84%. The Endurance would be worse at larger particle sizes, like 30u and above due to the leak.

Here's what a 15% leak would do to a filter that doesn't leak and follows the blue line. The orange line would be with the 15% leak. This is based on particle counts upstream vs downstream ... ie, the Beta Ratio.

So perhaps I'm good for 1 OCI (5k miles) with the LeakMaster FE and I'll wait a while before purchasing the next filter

IMO it would be OK to run for a 5K OCI. But I wouldn't continue to use them unless the leaf spring go sorted out. But from what's been posted lately, it sounds like Fram FEs are going away for good since Walmarts are getting them off the shelves.

1 OCI is basically a year for that car so I'll start looking for filters in about 10 months to see if anyone is still making a good filter then(y)

it’s almost like Fram said “you want metal end caps? Here’s your metal end caps, and we hope you enjoy the leaks.”
Facetious of course, but any known leaker is a pass from me.

Well well well. I decided to reach out to M+H to see if they had updated test results:

"Hello,

Can you please provide me with the most recent ISO filtration efficiency test results or specification sheets for your Purolator line of oil filters (Purolator, PurolatorONE, PurolatorBOSS, Purolator 20K)?

Thank you."

And this is what I got back

"No sir, we cannot. The only information available is what is listed on our website. www.purolatornow.com

Thank you,

Mann+Hummel Product Information

Product Information (800) 526-4250)"

Needless to say I will be reconsidering using any M+H-made filters.
Unbelievable
