This Fram is from a Dodge 5.9 magnum. It didn’t have many miles, I bought the car changed the oil then changed it again within a couple hundred miles.

Out Fram Endurance FE16 and Valvoline VR1 10w-30
In Royal Purple 30-8A (larger/longer FE16) and Mobil 15w-50

Looks good and it appears the louvers are open. Thanks for sharing. May I ask why the change from 10w-30 to 15w-50?

Yes I agree with the others. Best FE we’ve seen in a long time or ever. Very curious on the date code as well. Thanks for the c&p

Edit: I was wrong on interpreting the date code. It looks like it was early this year.

If I’m reading the date code correctly, it looks like 2018, however there isn’t 30 days in February so I’m not sure what that means. What’s interesting is I bought this one just a couple months ago from Walmart.

Side note, I’m not sure how to read the royal purple date code.

If I’m reading the FE correctly 2023 18th day.

What's the date code on that FE? Look how smooth the leaf spring is, and how much area there is where it sits on the end cap. Back when someone in manufacturing knew how to do something right. Not so much today.

Funnily enough, I ended up watching a Whip City Wrencher video where he took apart an STP Extended Life filter, and saw this:

Looks to be the same leaf spring as in the FE, but with flavor ripples.

The thing is, the video was from 3 years ago! So how many of us have been running oil filters with this problem all this time and just never realized it?

Royal Purple made in Mexico? Champ Labs have manufacturing in Mexico too?

Would you show the other end of this one? I’ve never seen “Hecho En Mexico” RP filters either!

It’s kind of a long story. I don’t exactly know the internals of this engine because the guy who had all the build sheet and dyno sheets passed away. I was told by the previous, previous owner it was a 408 stoker and he passed all the info and dyno sheets (+500 hp) to the guy that passed away.

So without knowing the bearing i figured I would start with 10w-30, which did good, but when it got hot the pressure at idle pressure was ~15 psi, which would probably be fine for this time of year. However, when it turns 100 and I’m driving it hard, 10w-30 doesn’t seem like it’s going to work.
