For those who don't know the COR series of Fram filters are made just for Walmart Tire and Lube Express. When I first started back in May of 2017, these filters where actual core filters (plastic instead of metal element housing). At least the 3387A was, non of the others were actual cores. Run details: 2001 Pontiac Sunfire 2.2 PENNZOIL 5W30 from 2004ish 2,675 Miles August 21, 2017- December 19, 2017 The only problem I found with this filter is when I pulled up the ADBV it brought up some of the end cap material with it. Not sure how big of a deal that really is though...

I would take that as a sign the ADBV wasn't being particularly effective. Serious problem? Probably not for one OCI. If they all did that over the life of an engine, though... that's why I don't use "jobber" grade filters.

Looks more like the ADBV just stuck to the end cap around the center hole where the two seal together. The end cap material just bonded to the rubber from being under pressure all the time from the leaf spring in the dome. I'll bet if the OP folds that flap back shown in photo #6 he'll find it's only really bonded where the sealing surface was around the center tube.

yes it has a very rough texture

Forgot to mention I counted 40 pleats. Can anyone confirm that this is indeed a Fram extra gaurd, just repackaged?

I have never used one of these filters before, and I don't see a reason for me to use it in the future. So, I cannot confirm if it is equivalent to the EG filter.

What's the advertised efficiency? If it's different than 95% at 20 microns then it's different media than the EG.

They come in boxes of like 10. They really have no info on them, besides what size they are.

You're just going to have to sacrifice a new EG and a new COR. Cut them open side by side. My money says they are the same. cool

Fram TLE "Core" is now an oxymoron. No "core", as in no ecore anymore. With the dissolution of the Fram-Champ alliance TLE filters all Fram fiber construction now. Other than the sticking endcap to the adbv, filter looks ok. Otoh, I'd expect most any filter with ~2700 miles and 4 months to look ok. No idea what's up the endcap pull off by adbv. As an aside, in this area AZ STP blue filter line is still basically the old Fram/Champ TLE Core line. Just blue can instead of orange can with texture. Thanks for c&p.

i actually like the look of these filters. the textured paint and the different shade of orange. makes me miss the old Advance auto red textured oil filters made by purolator, years ago before all the tearing issues.
