So I just got my first two bottles of FP60 in the mail yesterday. I thought I'd order the package that seems easiest to use, namely the 32 oz squirt bottle with the little 1 oz measuring section on top.

Well, this morning I couldn't for the life of me get most of the FP60 into the tank.

The main problem seems to be that the squirt bottle is not long enough to reach into the nozzle insert area and open the little trap door that seals the tank.

As a result, a few ounces of the FP60 ended up just spilling out and runnning down the side of the car.

The bottle said I used 4 ounces of FP60 in my attempt, but I'd be surprised if even 1 oz actually got in the tank.

Am I just a spaz?

Does anyone who uses the squirt bottles have this issue? Any other suggestions?

Thanks,

Dont worry, we all learn from our mistakes. Last year I got a gallon of FP. Went to Walmart, got a measuring cup and a long small orange funnel. Now when I use FP, its shake the jug, measure the correct amount, and in it goes. One of the best fuel additives I use in 3 cars and 3 mowers.

Lucas UCL bottles work nicely for 1 dose of products 5.25Oz per bottle. Only problem is you might like the Lucas UCL.

Some ppl hold the fill neck tab open with a screwdriver, or stick and squirt it in. This didn't work out to well for me when the bottle got low.

The best delivery system I have seen is an old Sta-Bil container where you measure out 1 ounce at a time. Works like a charm.

I use this from LC

I just squirt it into there under medium pressure and haven't split a drop in over a year. It builds up on the door, but all my vehicles have a small hole next to the opening that allows it to flow down once it reaches it.

Then I just shoot a little gas on top of it and insert the nozzle.

Why's everyone got to make it difficult?

My shampoo bottle leaks around the top. The stuff gets all over the side of the bottle. It smells really bad, I don't want it on my hands.

Ohhh and I can't tilt it enough to get it totally empty.

I've been using rinsed out Techron bottles which I dose for the different applications. The wifes Camry takes 3 Oz. and the long neck on the bottle pushes open the flapper. I showed her how to tip the bottle up with the fat side down and then roll it so the fat side is up to drain the FP from the bottle. Not a drop wasted.

Um, the first bottle I gave her leaked because I had a tear in the foil seal and the cap didn't seal well, but if you leave that seal in tact it works very well.

For the ECHO and the Tacoma trucks 2 Oz. in rinsed A-RX bottles works fine.

I hope this helps some.

I like to use an old long neck fuel additive bottle (mines an old dry gas bottle). That's the one complaint I have with FP-it's a pain to transfer it to a different bottle (with a turkey baster) and then into the tank. I don't like having it all over the floor/car/hands, etc.

my bmw has a flap and the filler opening is more or less completely liquid-sealed. All my other cars have some small vent hole other than the flap, so the FP can go in.

Usually what I do, since the BMW only lets me pour in about 3/4 oz. before the little spot is full, is fill it at the gas station. I fill it almost as much as it can hold above the flap, then use the gas nozzle to push the flap open. I then repeat this a few times until I get my dose in.

I have a screwdriver that I use if Im adding something not at the gas station.

you have to watch it. Likely this one was just beginner's luck, now you know to just dribble in a little at a time, and let it slip in or push the flap then repeat.

Hope that makes sense.

Well, it's not me making it difficult - it's my car.

My Audi has a sealed gas tank at two portions - one is a trap door that won't let liquid in at all, even if I fill the outside area. It will sit there all day. It also has a triple-click lock gas cap. If either one of these seals isn't tight, the check engine light will actually come on when I started the car.

Today I filled the outside area and then poked the trap door with a pen to let the FP60 in. This has to be repeated multiple times because the space outside the door will hold only about 1 oz.

Kind of messy, and far from ideal, but it worked. I'll be looking for a better solution long term.

We are always open to ideas. We have thought about 12 ounce fuel additive bottles, but the price would be high.

How high would the price be?

I'd rather pay a higher price for something easier to use, less time consuming, easier to keep in the car, and less messy than the 32 oz bottle I'm using now.

I spent an extra 10-15 minutes at the gas station today playing FP60 pen-poke with my tank. I, for one, would pay extra money for a more convenient and efficient package.

DD, trust me, the small bottle and gas nozzle bit is the easiest.

Go to a craft store, and get some HDPE type 2 bottles with flip top caps. I like the 4oz ones as its easy to gauge dosing. Then just pour as much in as the top section will hold, stick the nozzle in, fuel up a little, remove the nozzle and go again. Depending on how tight a fit it is, you might just be able to crack the flap slightly with the nozzle, and let the fp flow in.

I know in my car the lucas bottle doesnt fit properly to touch the flap, so only the gas nozzle or a screwdriver will do it. I dont like to use the screwdriver. And, if your lucas bottle ever falls over, its not pretty (ask my GF how we know!!!)

Little bottles that are easily visually measurable, and a little at a time dosing has been by far the easiest thing that Ive found, and it is nearly leak-proof too.

I'll repeat what I've been doing for awhile now, seems to work well enough. I zip-tied a popsicle stick (licked clean by my son of course

) to the top of the LC/FP bottle. Flip the top, poke open the flap with the stick, squeeze away. Haven't had any messes yet (other than my son letting the popsicle melt all over the place

).
