So I have a 2008 Mk5 VW Golf R32 with the 3.2 VR6 engine and I live in Abu Dhabi, U.A.E. Because of the culture here, working on your own car really isn't a thing, so the ability to do it is almost non-existent and I pretty much have to go somewhere to get all of my maintenance done unfortunately. I will have an oil change coming up soon and the German vehicle service center I've chosen has the choice of Castrol or Fosser oils, which I had never heard of but I guess they are produced in Germany. Browsing their site they seem decent, but even searching the forum here I only found one hit for Fosser oils and it was on a list of approved oils for VW/Audi.

Anyone have experience with it? Or should I just stick with Castrol?

VW 502/504. The oil meets the specs, I was just wondering if anyone had any knowledge of the stuff. It can run 5w30 or 5w40 with the latter being most common, but I am leaning towards the 5w30 because I won't be racing in the summer here, only highway cruising, and the engine has an oil cooler built in.

Yes, if it actually has 504 00/507 00 approval and not just a recommendation it would be very difficult to show how one approved oil is better than another.

There is a small german Company that makes good, decent quality, mostly Group III budget oils. The Company is called MITAN.

MITAN has some spin offs or trademarks: ALPINE and FOSSER / DURAN oils.

These are budget brands, for sale in walmarts. Alpine is known as cheap, but good quality oil here in germany, people like it.
These oils are cheap because there is no marketing and sometimes they dont carry genuine OEM approvals, the manufacturer only "recomend them for use with...."

But, a VOA looks good:

Is it as good as Castrol? I dont know. Is it good, usable oil? 100% sure.

Thanks. I'll probably stick with Castrol as it's my favorite anyways.
