Formula Shell full synthetic just became available locally for under $6 per quart. Not familiar with it, any good? Opinions on this oil please? How does it compare to Pennz Platinum?

It's probably your typical second-tier synthetic.
There's QS UD and a Fram filter on sale at Autozone right now for $17.99. (5 quarts + filter)
It appears to be a mostly PAO oil, according to the MSDS. Good oil. PP is about that price though so it definitely isn't a bargain.
