But I finally found GC.

Car History:
1998 Ford Contour SVT
2.5L High Output Engine
136,000 miles
Last 60,000 miles were with Mobil-1 5W-30
Before was syn if I had the $$$, syn blend if I didn't
Currently have ~3000 miles on Mobil-1 0W-40
Always have run Motorcraft FL820s filters (well, a few Mobil-1 filters in there)
I searched high and low in MI. Having moved just recently to Memphis, TN, I found GC at the 1st AZ I looked in. Kinda sneaky how they had the "Made in America" 0W-30 mixed in with the "Made in Germany" 0W-30. But I got 6 qts of GC, and will run it for the next 2 oil changes.

As a side note: Castrol has a dollar off special if you buy a case of their oil, so I got GC at $3.79 a qt. Even the techron I bought was also a dollar off.

Well, Memphis is where their headquarters is so they probably make sure to get the good stuff there. The people stocking the shelves at the store probably don't know the difference though. But we do.

(My company HQ is in Memphis also, I go there a few times a year. Ribs at the Blues City Cafe on Beale St. are awesome.)

I bet it doesn't.

My wife's 2000 Civic gets the same MPG with GC as it got with Mobil 1 or Royal Purple.

I don't have any comparisons on my Corvette, but on my Firebird I got the same or even slightly better MPG on GC compared to other oils such as Maxlife, Mobil 1 or Schaeffer oil.

My wife has a Civic EX and gets the same gas mileage with 15w50 Mobil 1....as it does with 5w30 Mobil 1. We drove a 1500 mile round trip from Florida to North Carolina this year and her Honda did not get better MPG with a thinner oil.

I'm gonna try 0w20 next to see what happens.

Patman - Well, I am going to find out this spring. My wife's car has been run on Pennzoil Performax full synthetic 5w30 since 1997. They don't make it anymore and I will be changing to GC in the spring. She has very accurate MPG records and the numbers should tell the tale.

Welcome to Tennessee SVT. The GC may be healthier for yor car than eatin' all the good ribs may be for you.

I'm only starting to test GC myself, but I'm optimistic that it will become my standard.

I wouldn't expect a mileage decrease unless one has a hi-revving engine that specs. something thinner, if then.

(Johnny Carson Voice) I did not know that!

Are you with FedEx? Memphis really came as a surpirse to me...I am really enjoying the city (Beale St on Friday night...niiiiice!).

I haven't seen any MPG change going from 5W-30 to 0W-40, but I saw a 2mpg drop going from my AFE drop in (which used the stock airbox) to a NAPA gold airfilter. All in all, I'm kinda stoked to try GC. I drive 40 miles min a day on the highway (say 75-90mph), and with my car that's around 3650 rpm, so she sees her fair amount of hard running. When I change over to GC, I'm gonna fog my intake with Berryman B-12 (right behind the MAF to clean out the TB and UIM/LIM), so I'm not sure if an oil analysis will give any valid readings. But I'm def gonna get some analysis done after the GC oil changes.

Yea, the first time I got mine, there was a bottle of the USA in the front, but the other 8 behind it were all GC.

The Rendezvous a few blocks back from Beale in an alley behind the Best Western is more famous but it's dry BBQ, I prefer wet. House band at the Rum Boogie is great, they have a good pulled-pork sandwich. My favorite bar on Beale. Also check out Mud Island, the actual Memphis Belle B-17 is gone right now to get repainted but it's cool, check out the Mississippi River Museum. Everybody should see Elvis' house, cars, and airplanes at least once. Gibson Guitar factory is near and they have a museum too.

Welcome to Memph-o. this is the GC capital of the world. LOL!!! I've been to 5 different autozones in town and they all have GC. unfortunately, I'm only using dino on my beaters. Fedex forum is opening up for the Grizzles so be sure to catch a b-ball game there. Autozone park is where you can see the Triple A Redbirds.

I've been running GC in my 99 Elantra for over 1,000kms now and fuel mileage looks exactly the same. To be honest, I do not notice any starting, or driveability differences between GC and the dino oil it replaced. But, I do know that my engine is better protected now.
