Chrysler orange is G-05. Ford sells it as their gold coolant.

If I remember correctly, this is only orange as factory-fill. If you go to the Chrysler parts counter nowadays, the refill product (Mopar 68048953AB Anti-Freeze) is dyed pink.

No doubt to avoid the potential mixup with Dex-cool.

Because that isn't confusing at all.

...yet another reason to buy your coolant based on its specs and 'code' and NOT what color it is.

I will agree with you though. Coolants are way too complicated these days.

Ford Orange is like DexCool but improved. It is fine to use in a GM, i work at Ford and we sell used GMs that i service with it and 0 issues. However, ive been told that it isnt wise to use the DexCool in a Ford as it is inferior. It wouldnt kill it, but it would have a shorter service life.

Can you quantify how much service life would be reduced?

For example, both my wife's 2011 Mustang (prior car) and her new to her 2017 Mustang already limit coolant service life to 3 years / 50K miles max after replacement of factory fill. That's pretty short compared to prior G05 service of 5 years / 100K miles already.

How do you explain Zerex Dexcool meeting the Ford specifications per PI sheet?
