For Crying out loud...they are children.

It appears that people that work in the school systems want black and white rules. For them it is far better than being put on the spot and having to think. Later someone could find fault with you and that would be terrible. The little girl and the teenager spent exactly the same time expelled from school. It was the same violation, carrying a weapon on school grounds. The parents will have to move so they can get their child into a different school district. She has been banned from all non-classroom activities because of her violation of the rules while on probation. Evidently it's a one-strike policy. She stayed with my granddaughter because her class went on a field trip and she is not allowed to go. She has to see a school counselor once a week so they can monitor her progress. Other students have been told to report to their teacher if they see any suspicious behavior. We are going to loose a good neighbor over this. I think that the teaching profession is turning into something I don't like. They are becoming baby-sitters and worst of all they are teaching values that I don't recogonize.

On the one hand, I sometimes reminisce about my childhood (1970s) and the multiple trips to the emergency room and wonder how I ever lived through it.

On the other hand, I attend one of my nephew's soccer games where no one is allowed to keep score, and I wonder if this country will ever produce another "man."
