Looking for a thicker oil for the VQ3.5:
Would you run M1 euro 0w40 or M1 EP 5w30 HM?
12.9 vs 11.8 cSt at 100c.
EP has the advantage of API SP, ILSAC 6A and newer standerds in general. M1 0w40 has tough requirement to meet (MB, VW and Porsche).

Though I'm starting not to trust oil makers claims about viscosity when everything is thining out!
What you say?

I used to use Mobil HM full synthetic 5W30 back when I had my 3.4L Tacoma. I maybe going to the EP version in my 4.0L Tacoma next spring.

0W-40. The Mobil1 offering is great. I’d say 10W-30 but I see you are on the East coast, so 0W40 year round is my vote.

I thought a lot of the 350Z guys swore by Castrol 5w40? Can anyone deny or confirm? The VQ35DE in the Maxima has got to be a pretty similar machine to the VQ35DE in the 350Z.

Why not use Castrol 0W-40? That's what I put in my EZ.

I should change the oil before I sell it, though. I will put in

Mobil 1 0W-40, redundantly called Euro Formula since it is the only 0W-40 they make.

Costs the same as Castrol, too.

I really enjoyed how my engine ran on Castrol 0W-40 but mine was not a Nissan VQ series. It is, however, really good oil.

M1 0w40 has an HTHS of 3.6, so is just above the min HTHS allowed for 40 grade (3.5). You won't notice much difference in fuel economy.

Thanks for the assuring replies
