03 Focus with the 100HP split port motor.
Auto trans.
typically get 30 MPG (actual calculations) combination of 5 days of easy commuting (varies between 62MPH and stop-N-go) combined with around town on 2 days off.

My wife's old corsica auto trans has that footrest. It was not held in with much and apparantly something missing from the stick shift versions.

It had at least a little velcro, IIRC, and carpeting underneath! I played with it when I added a floor-mounted high beam dimmer switch.

UPDATE:

I just did a 450 mile buisness trip with 2 co-workers. They drive full-size trucks

3 people, AC on, 75 MPH average:

34.5 MPG

Again, '05 Ion 2.2 w/5spd manual.

HI

My Olds LSS with the Series II 3800 gets 27-28mpg.

I was hopeing for a bigger boost than just 3-5mpg.

At that rate, what I give up in driving satisfaction doesnt recoup itself in mpg savings.

JHZ,

That mpg is amazing.

I really like the Saab 9-3 but the leg room in the back is poor. Isn't it? Also, everyone goes on and on about the poor maintenance records of the Saab. Is it really that bad? Is this your first Saab?
