Hello everyone,

Its just about time for an oil change. My car is a 73 Ford Consul which uses Motorcraft EFL-90 Oil Filter. I went to my local shop and they said they ran out of Motorcraft EFL-90 and I can use Motorcraft FL-910S instead. I didnt buy it as i was not so sure because it look way smaller thean the EFL-90.

As i live in a small town and dont have much options and my oil change is about to come, can anyone give me an idea if its ok to use that smaller filter instead of the original one? My concern is that it may increase the oil pressure and mess up the oil pump maybe, causing engine to run without oil if it happens while driving, on worst scenario.

Any ideas?

Judging from the Wix cross reference lookup, it appears you can use the extremely common Fram PH16, Purolator L14670, etc.

Thank you both for the answers & help, i checked out the cross reference list and FL-400S is what i saw on my local shop other than the reference list.

if you have the room for a longer filter I'd suggest running the Fl-1A (ph8A in fram) filter.

the circumference would be the same as the PH16 or 14670 but it would longer, more oil and more common filter.

Post some pictures of the Consul!!! Why not just order an EFL90 from the internet? You can get packs of 10 i think from ebay, i can still get them from Ford for my Capri here in Spain though.
What engine is it the 1.7 V4?
