Yes, I use Wearcheck in Mississauga. I'll send you the details via Private Message.

Hi All. Need some advise here as I have a difference of opinion with one of my buddies. I am running Redline 5W30 for the first time in a 3.8 L GM with 95,000 km on it. I plan to do a UOA @ aprox 8,000 km (my interest is extended drain intervals). His opinion is to drain at this time and do the UOA on the next change because the first change would flush out all the crap left over from the dino. I disagree because my dino changes were at 5,000 km (religously)with Castrol GTX and OEM filter. With that drain interval, there should not be any crap in the engine. BTW the dino was always fairly clean at the change. I would like some feedback from the forum, as you guys seem to be very knowlegeable in these areas.

Car is a 95 Buick LeSabre and driven daily 70/30 hwy/city.
Driving conditions- moderately hard, doing aprox 2,000 km/month.
Reason for Redline- going broke at Mr Lube (~$40.00 cdn/visit every 2.5 months)and also syn is better for cold cdn winter starts.

Thanks

You definitely don't want to drain out the Redline before 8000km, if that is what your buddy wants you to do, as it's too pricey to be dumping so soon.

Your first UOA won't show as good of a result as future ones, as Redline does tend to show better results on the 2nd and 3rd run with it.

But I would still do a UOA just to see how it's doing so far. But then again I'm a UOA junky! I'm even thinking of doing a UOA on the oil in my current car right now even though I'm getting rid of it in a week or two! Is that addicted or what?
