I ended up putting in about 10 ounces less than what i took out after checking level at reccomended pan temperature. Is this normal or ok? Just worried i waited too long to put the overfill plug back in. It was barely trickling out and i was fumbling with the plug a bit before screwing it back in.

10 ounces of transmission fluid is enough to cause issues on slopes steep enough to starve the flow. Top up when you can.
But could it have been overfilled from factory? I just didnsame process again and im left with around the same amount

Were you checking level with engine running? What's the level check call for?
I know that with my Sportage for example, ATF level check with engine on will take 200ml more compared to engine off to have correct level. And engine has to be running during level check.

I did a complete change through the ATF cooling lines on my 11 Tundra.
Been a while but i used the OBD port method to insure proper temp when checking.
I recall I had to used a pin/nail of sorts to insure the the thermostat on the cooling lines
remained open. Drove it a bit and re-checked level.

2021 does not have oil cooler thermostat.

Yea engine running. Brought pan to correct temperature. I guess im confused as
Yeah, that is the worst method. Either get OBD reader or jump pins in OBD, which is official Toyota procedure:

Yeah i finally figured out this obd veepeak scanner. Ill add half a quart or so and re-check using it

Make sure you are absolutely sure about the necessary temperature. I think transmission pre/2018 has a different temperature from one after 2018. That is why jumping OBD pins is probably best way to do it.

I will say I don't care for the "trickle" method because it's still somewhat subjective. But yeah, use a scanner and live data. Also I think you want temp 1? Temp 2 is torque converter? I can never remember. Yes, yes, they should be the same if you started with it stone cold.
