Anyone that has a favorite oil for this 4 cylinder in a Pontiac Grand Am?

-Its a 4 speed auto
-I'm kinda broke, so i guess dino
-hammer it once a few days (it roars after 40mph when floored)

I've done 1500 due to my driving habits, and I just can't stop myself from changing it. It's kinda similar to O.C. i suppose

Do you have the rare SOHC or the more common DOHC? I would use an inexpensive 5w30 dino like Havoline or even SuperTech @ wally-world. Synthetic is a waste in those engines as you are lucky to get 125k on one without it blowing a head gasket and warping the head.

Run thin 5W-30 in that hammerin' cold-startup engine. Synthetic would be better if it uses little. The Meijer & Wal*Mart house brands are what I would look at for purchase. Even the high mileage, syn-blend is good oil.

GC 0w30 (the REAL stuff) is my choice with LC and periodic Auto-RX cleaning. Use longer drains to cost justify.

I raced Synergyn 3w30 in Bilmar built Guad4's in IMSA/ProSportsCar and have a little experience with them.
