These are the new style. PF-3001XL and XWS-3002XL. Both are well made. What had me was the ss filter mesh for the PF-3001. Not that I think this set up won't filter as advertised, but rather that I see no need to be changing it at the same interval as the xws-3002. I keep a spare in the truck in case it springs a leak for one reason or another.
I run a dual filter (water/particle) set up on my auxiliary tank. Fuel goes in aux tank exclusively before truck. But even without, my intuition is that it would take some serious contamination to reduce flow substantively.
I don't plan on changing the pf 3001 here on out.
Am I missing anything of consideration? Hope this helps others save on expensive filters.
On a side note, the extreme water separator works. I was hauling a large fw into a stiff headwind and the truck stuttered and died. Filter plugged from water and blew a fuse.
