Was curios about Factory fill YES I dumped it early but OLM was at 81% Mostly Hwy 80 /20 split I belive TBN is aprox 6.6 based upon AC delco 5w30 VOA. Engine uses timing chain so I didn't want it to be like the Traverse fiasco with the OLM getting recalibrated (service)

OIL USE INTERVAL 2377KM
FACTORY FILL 5w20

MICHAEL: It's normal to find higher metals and silicon in a brand new engine. Iron and copper are from steel and brass/bronze parts. They read higher than average here since they're from brand new parts wearing in and getting comfortable in your engine. Silicon is from the harmless sealers the factory uses to put the engine together. These materials should wash out with a few oil changes and we'll be able to compare your engine to universal averages, which are based on about 6,000 km. The TBN read 4.4, still a
good reading. Check back to build trends

Thoughts on this? I will going for official Oil change end of july then will be doing every 4 Months or according or OLM

I'd run it down to 20-15% on the OLM. Your Spark's engine is port-injected and naturally aspirated, so it should be fine for that interval.

it looks like GM doesn't use any special break-in oil. Early change in this case is probably a good idea.

Is the factory fill really 5W-20, as you indicated? If so, it's the first application I'm aware of from GM that uses that grade.

Also, why are you planning on changing the oil every 4 months? That seems crazy, unless you're putting a lot of miles on the vehicle... in which case you should go by the OLM anyway.

Yes this and the 2013 Malibu both use 5w20, doing 2 other quick O.C to get rid of excess junk plus car uses timing chain 1.25 Liter engine. Automatic & great on milage to boot! .average 37.7 MPG since I bought it in March only got 1600 Miles on her so far

Cheers!
