F150 Rear Seat into Sleeping Quarters

I stopped mid-way from Hou to Destin on the way to pick up my boat and slept in my Ram. It has the load flat floor in the rear and I laid a 2" foam mattress topper back there. No way I would do that again. That was a rough night and sore back for several days. I also froze my arse off when a cold front moved in and I had the windows cracked. Even several glasses of back seat bourbon didn't result in a decent sleep.

Gents...Apologies for the delay. I was away working on my driving skill in a 3rd world country! Thank you all for the suggestions. I do have a Leer cap and a bed rug in the back of my bed. Great combo. I have a 5.5ft bed and find it great for camping with the rear gate opened. Where I'd be parking for some ZZZZZZ's on these trips, I'm not so comfortable with the tailgate dowmn. I muh prefer the exit options of the 4 door crew cab. Retired LE so a little sensitive for sure.

Thanks for all the god ideas and some funny stories. "Back seat bourbon" is a classic!

There's some cool vids on fitting a boot and thus removing the rear window. But that doesn't make the bed any longer.....

But if you've got the tailgate closed and topper locked, you can still climb up front and drive away

I slept in the car a LOT years ago. My job was in a neighboring state and I was also in school during nights and weekends … while working full time. There was no “schedule,” I worked, studied, did homework, and slept wherever I could. I went through this routine with 2 different vehicles - a 2.2L legacy and a 3.3L town and country.

The TC was the best. For one, having front and rear AC just provided much more adaptable ventilation. Leave the front on fresh, low, while letting the rear do 90% of the work was ideal. The V6 oddly enough seemed to require less fuel when idling for a few hours in august to work/study/sleep or whatever. While I couldn’t stretch out, the rear bench somehow worked repeatedly well for side-sleeping. For all that vehicle was (it was a 2002 I think), it was a really good vehicle, though the legacy was more durable and required less upkeep.
