Laguna Seca would have to be lengthened to run F1. Their tracks have to be at least 4km long, with the exception of Monaco. And F1 tracks have to have garages that open directly to pit road. I don't know how pit road at Laguna is configured.
Yes, running COTA was a thrill. I really liked the esses, and the long triple apex Turn 15-16-17-18. But there are three turns where apex speed is ~40mph. Those are just frustrating tire grinders in a street car. The run down to turn 12 was scary in the rain. I was getting the Corvette up to 135mph, at which point the windshield wipers were useless, and I couldn't see out the windshield. I could only tell where I was by seeing the braking signs out the side window, and had to brake down ~100mph to get into the turn.
It was 36F and raining. I made a point every lap of avoiding the curb at the apex of turn 10, but got onto the paint stripe at the exit on the last lap. The rear end came out, and I corrected, but was late centering the wheel for the recovery, and the car snapped left, bouncing off the guardrail. Crash damage wasn't bad, and the car will be tracked again.
