Cataract surgery is pretty standard these days, so hope it's a breeze and everything comes out good.

Trav,

Take care of yourself and get well soon. I'm not the religious type, but I'll say a prayer for you. You're a class act and have helped me a few times.

Trav, take care man and heal quickly.

You are an asset to this forum and in general

Good luck. I just finished with my 2nd. Having some complications, but it's better than it was prior to the operation. Some of the vitreous gel is anterior of the retina, fibers are intertwined and I'm getting some clouding of vision. But, I get 20/16 distance on the eye chart.

Best wishes Trav,

My parents (in their late 70's) have each had both eyes done in the last year. No issues to report and they are very pleased with their good vision.

Groan...sorry for that guys.

Best wishes buddy! I know you'll be just fine! My father had his second eye procedure done Tuesday and is doing great.

I have an IOL in my left eye, Hey one IMPORTANT THING !! Find out if they are planning to put in one of the yellow tinted lens that filters the blue band of UV light or if they are putting in a clear one. I highly recommend a clear one. This is because they put a yellow tinted one in my eye without asking and I didn't even know there was such a thing as IOL's that filter blue UV light. It's not a real big deal, but I'm just perfectionist enough that I do notice a very slight difference in colors left eye vs right (right still has factory installed lens from when I was being built in the womb).

Here's links about it:

There are some very interesting lens options. I have no idea which one is best, but I suspect I would prefer a non flexible, non focusing lens, water-clear, and no UV block. As I understand it, the flexible lenses have are not pupil sized in low light (when the pupil can be as large as 7mm) and do not provide good focus in lower light conditions. Or rather the focus may be good, but the image is less than excellent as both focused and non focused image reaches the retina.

I know someone (an older guy) who has the Crystalens equivalent in both eyes. He is a semi professional observational astronomer and photographer and he is thrilled with his clear vision. He claims that it's sharper than ever, and remains excellent when the pupil is at it's largest. He does however, have to use reading glasses to focus up close.

Here is a very interesting website: http://www.komar.org/faq/colorado-cataract-surgery-crystalens/ultra-violet-color-glow/

My suggestion is to pick the lens that fits your needs, and to fully understand the shortcomings of each.
