A few years ago, a regional department store chain called Ames, sold Exxon Superflo Fully Synthetic Oil. The oil came in "all gold-colored" bottles. I think the label was white, with the company's tiger on it.

Ames was a good store, but the chain went out of business about 3-4 years ago.

I'd like to know if the Exxon Superflo Fully Synthetic Oil still exists, and how does it compare with its company-cousin, "Mobil 1", as well as other synthetics?

Thanks in advance!

This probably not much help considering I speak of Canada here. In Canada, Esso superflo in full syn oil is now in process of being discontinued, I understand in this forum eastern Canada has little stock left on Esso shelves at bulk stores
, western Canada it is still stocked but clearing out.

Esso, Canada's version of Exxon, Esso/Exxon/Mobil/Imperial has phased out Esso Superflo for Mobil SL synthetic. I still hear of Exxon Superflo in threads and see it on Oil Sample forum in gas engines threads in this forum.

Mobil has merged with Esso up here, Mobil wants their oil on shelves replacing Superflo. I cant help you with the American Exxon Superflo supply.

It is a shame that Ames went under. They carried stuff that Wal-Mart, K-Mart, and Target didn't; like the Superflo Synthetic. We had about 8 stores in Maryland.

You're right,Whimsey, about the price and rebate deal. I was tempted to switch to the Superflo Synthetic because of the price and rebate deals and Exxon's good reputation.

I just poured my last 2 Superflo Synths into a soup jug. I got like 12q for $1/q and like 40q of semi-synth for $.01c a quart. That's the right price, ONE CENT. I added some synth to the semi, making a super-semi. It's going into my woman's beater car as fully syn soup with some Mobil 1 20 weight and 1/2q of GC. No big loss, but the price was right for me.

Back in the latter 90's I use to buy Exxon Superflo Synthetic for my 1996 Ford Contour at the Ames in Newton NJ. It was a steal at the $2.75 sale/rebate price, which was constant it seems
