I should add that I rarely if ever let it idle more than 5 to 7 minutes and that is only when it is say below 25*F,hardly enough time to worry about cylinder wash, varnish buildup etc. IIRC, Cummins warns against anything over either 10 or 15 minutes.
If I have been towing or just running hard I do give it up to 3 minutes of idling time before I shut it down for propper turbo cool down.
