Netflix and the like can sit there, then, for the time being, as far as I'm concerned. I already have a proprietary, closed source box on top of my TV. That's more than enough.

I carry a USB stick with me with a bunch of applications from portableapps.com, including (portable versions of) Chrome and Firefox. Whenever I am coerced or forced into setting up a Windows system for some wretched soul I just use the portable browsers on the stick to get the installation file for both; never even touching IE.
I should note that using applications from portableapps.com has been a game-changer for (people like) my wife who do not have administrative access to their computers at work but who need to be able to run certain applications.
