Euro Pennzoil Platinum w/ PurePlus - 0W-40, 5W-30

I think all we know about them at this point is that their availability is zilch. Nowhere to be found. I don't think I've even seen a PDS for them yet.
 
Yup. They've been listed there for quite a few months now, ever since PurePlus was introduced. No word on when if ever they'll appear in the wild.
 
They are the ones that are going to be available at BMW dealerships to replace the Castrol they currently sell there. The Pennz Euro 0w-40 probably isn't any better/worse than M1 0w-40 you can get in Walmart for cheap. Also, I find it strange Pennz 0w-40 isn't listing LL-01 yet.

Pennzoil 0w-40 is a Chrysler SRT crowd oil. Its NOACK is so high, it can't meet some of the more stringent Euro specs such as MB 229.5, for example.

No, that SRT 0w-40 is a slightly different (labelled anyway) product. Here is the set of Pennzoil Euro oils I see on the website, and note no LL-01 for the 0w-40: Pennzoil Platinum® Euro Full Synthetic Motor Oil with PurePlus™ Technology Euro 0W-40 Fiat 9.55535.Z2 Mercedes-Benz 229.3, 229.5 and 226.5 Porsche A40 VW 502 00 and 505 00 Renault RN0700 and RN0710 Euro 5W-30 BMW LL-01 Fiat 9.55535.Z2 Mercedes-Benz 229.3, 229.5 and 226.5 Porsche A40 VW 502 00 and 505 00 Renault RN0700 and RN0710 Euro 5W-40 BMW LL-01 Chrysler MS 10725, 10850 and 12991 Ferrari Maserati Fiat 9.55535.Z2 Mercedes-Benz 229.3, 229.5 and 226.5 Porsche A40 VW 502 00 and 505 00 Renault RN0700 and RN0710

Oh, ok. You didn't say Euro in the sentence I quoted, so i thought you switched to talking about the non-Euro stuff. smile

None of those are showing BMW LL-04, MB 229.51, or VW 504.00 either. I would have thought that at least the 5W-30 would have had those approvals. Interesting.
 
There are mistakes on that list. Possibly somebody just did a copy-paste by mistake. For example, there is no way the 5w-30 has Porsche A40 approval.

Maybe you don't understand what rebrand is, technically a rebrand has to, at least, be a different word. Both Shell and Pennzoil call it PurePlus (notice it's still the same words) thus making it not a rebrand. Shell make the GTL so again it cannot be a rebrand, it is just their marketing term for it. What I was actually saying is the Pennzoil Euro oil is essentially rebranded Shell oil. Also the Pearl GTL plant is a PSA between Shell and Qatar Petroleum, let me Wikipedia that for you http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pearl_GTL

All I meant to say was GTL base oil that is produced at Pearl plant in Qatar is QHVI with all it's different grades. This is the name it's known for and distributed with to customers. For Shell's own marketing they have come up with a name PurePlus. Without going into semantics of 'rebranding', in my work place rebranding is something that is sold with two different names or brands. Don't know at which point QHVI transforms into PurePlus but at Vopak terminals it's still called QHVI.
