What is going on with Esso Primepro/Imperial oil. I priced this XD3 0-40 full syn oil at Primepro bulk dealer other day, the price was $4.20 litre, good deal. While there I asked him to order a strata pore filter, he told me he was holding off on all filters because Primepro was becoming Imperial Oil replacing Primepro in Oct this year. Now XD3 at Wally World shelves? convenient. Rick, what is price per litre at Wally compared to Esso Primepro or I guess Imperial soon?

Actually it's cheaper if you go to the esso distribution point. I payed 4.30 tax incl for 1 bottle. This is for a POA oil, I was so impressed with the price that I had to buy a case. It's on merivale rd.

Since M1 Delvac1 is getting VERY difficult to find now... this is looking good as an alternate choice.

Go to the link I have at the top of this page. It seems like a realy impressive oil.

I just got back from the Esso distribution center.

Price for 0w30 XD-3 full PAO Synthetic is CDN$3.64/liter.

That is a complete synthetic oil change for ~CDN$18.00 with taxes plus filter.

That is DIRT cheap and the oil is made by Mobil 1.

Mobil 1 took over the synthetic oil production for Esso and this stuff has a TBN of 12

I was wondering since Esso=Exxon and Exxon=Mobil,
then the Esso oil is M1...
This puts a whole new spin on buying synth in Canuckland.....

Esso distribution centers sell this stuff for less than Walmart? Hmm, me thinks I'll be making a visit to one. If I can get a jug of that for 16 bucks, and get myself a Baldwin oil filter for 10, that'd be pretty sweet.

Yes, the Esso distributors sell it cheaper than Wallmart.

All you are doing is cutting the middle man out and saving money for you.

You can buy it in 4x4L 16x1L containers only.

Friggin cheap!!!!

Don't waste time, go get some, this is the REAL deal!

Just picked up my case from the bulk Esso dealer in Moose Jaw, Canada. $70 and a couple pennies for 16L of 0W30 synthetic, all enviro-charges and sales taxes included. So, $4.38/quart. Probably could have bought even cheaper had I used cash and not a credit card.

Considering that one cannot leave Wal-Mart with a quart of Mobil1 for less than $7 these days (or a 4.4L jug for less than $30), this is a very good deal.

I picked 2 cases of 0w30 XD3 Extra for $108.49 CAN GST included, works out to $4.52 a litre!

I'm gonna have to go down and bust some heads at the Esso bulk dealer here in town. They told me the 0w30 is discontinued and only the 0w40 is still available. I really want to try this stuff in my fleet vehicles!

On my last visit I noticed they carried a small supply of M1 SS 5/10w30, but it's more expensive than in Wal-Mart.

I hear rumors of 0-30 being obsolete too, seems to depend on which bulk Esso bulk station one deals with. The Gull Lake bulk dealer told me he uses this 0-30 every oil change on his diesel, it seems available at some agents and not others. I need both, the 0-40 for diesel and 0-30 car, I hope my local M.C. Esso bulk dealer has both, I will ask him tommorrow what is the "true story" on 0-30 XD3 syn oil availability now and future and post my dealers version on this oil supply Olympic.

Wow, this XD-3 0W30 sure has quite the smell to it. Makes Mobil-1 smell like roses in comparison.

Interesting how the XD-3 0W30 is a 'thicker' oil than even the 10W30 grade dino that is offered by the same manufacturer, but a far lower pour point.

Since I operate at -40C in the winters on lots of short trips, I should still come out ahead with this thicker oil, eh? Especially with the high TBN.

Right now I am using it as a top-up oil to a fill of Mobil1 5W-30. Hopefully its decent at resisting glycol ingress, as my 3.1L GM V6 is apparently notorious for this.

BTW Cyprus/Olympic, the Esso dealer here in Moose Jaw has crates of the XD-3 0W30 in stock. 692-3644 if you're desperate to find it in Saskatchewan.
