ESP 0w-20 vs 5w-30

Just recently switched and noticed the 30 doesn’t have the green tint that 20 does. Found that interesting and just curious why

VW spec calls for the green dye. It's also supposed to have a marker which will fluoresce under UV light, but I haven't tested it. Think of it like most transmission fluids being dyed red. It helps distinguish between different oils.

I submitted several virgin samples of VW508 oils for testing and they ranged in color from blue to brown-ish straight from the jugs.

I switched from 20 to 30. Sorry for confusion
