I was watching this Coyote 5.0 Ford tear down video and the builder states multiple times his thoughts that buildup in the engine is from using synthetic instead of conventional, and more interesting, using different brands of synthetic instead of sticking to one. He also comments at a different point in the video that synthetic isn't meant for short trips. Also, at about 7:15 there is more synthetic oil blaming.

Not passing this off as fact, more for entertainment.

They made a follow up video. Basically boiled down to the engine builder saying “running extended OCI’s with short tripping in frigid cold weather is not a good idea.”

I think the synthetic oil issue he is referring to is people going to long between changes, which people think you can do with synthetic, which led to oil ring issue. He is saying that if people ran conventional oil they would change their oil more often and eliminate the ring problem he is pointing out.

Seems like this video passed through here a few months back ?
It did.

Here:

Not sure there’s anything new to be said about the (mostly inaccurate) points made in this video.

I can tell you with authority that the engine in the video above was either: A) Not using a quality synthetic oil, or B) Never had it's oil changed.

Even with 15,000 or 20,000 mile oil changes with a quality synthetic, those deposits don't form.

It is

It is not non sense if you don’t have any experience with it just look it up. And look at synthetic oil in a cup and pour some conventional next to it you will see how the thickness varies we had a car towed into the dealership and had SuperTech oil in it and it clogged the filter and blew the engine up. Scotty Kilmer on YouTube talked about it he is very reputable.
Sorry man - - - - - 5w-30 viscosity is the same for conventional and syn........there are slight deviations between brands but nothing that you could actually see.
Your comments don't really hold any water.
Quoting Mr.Kilmer here will almost get you laughed out of the room on this forum.
He is just a wrench monkey not a tribologist.

All grades of ST oils hold API Certification - - - - they are good oils.
Just like other Big name brands.

Why is that? He is very reputable especially in his older videos.
