Energy 2.1e speaker tweeter possibly blown....

I believe this happened due to daughter raising volume all the way then turning stereo on. The speaker does have a crossover in it. Do these go out before the tweeter? Is there a way to test the crossover? They don't make tweeters for this speaker anymore,so i got to check evrything else first.Thanks
 
Pull the tweeter out. Measure the DC resistance with a DVM. Some tweeters have replaceable voice-coils...emphasis on 'some'. Not at all familiar with the Energy line, so I don't know. If they used a VIFA tweeter, you may be in luck.

Just install an inline fuse in the speaker line, one in the left channel pair and one in the right channel pair. Using Ohm's Law you can select the correct fuse value. Use a fast-blow fuse.

Speaker Impedance in Ohms (resistance) Speaker Power rating in Watts (power) System B+ voltage 12.8 volts (voltage) You are looking for a "current" value in amps. That will be fuse value
