Is that canister on the right the re-usable thing? if so, then what's up with the base plate? I might be making myself seem stupid, but experience shows I'm getting the necessary practise.
no, its the filter shell from the spin on style pre filter used on the 13-18 ram... it is just removed to get access to the internals for the photo hence the base plate is permanently removed from the filter housing..
As a side note, most people tend to stick with the Mopar or Racor version of the rear filter. Baldwin/Hastings are also owned by the same parent company and I can usually find them much cheaper.
