Dumbest Drivers

At least one in five also did not know that roads are most slippery when it first starts to rain after a dry spell.

I can tell you why people in the northeast failed this one. Road are not MOST slippery when it first starts to rain. Roads are most slippery when they are covered in ice.

I am also not convinced by the results just because they only tested 100 people from each state. That only represents a small number of the drivers and is in no way related to the total number of drivers in each state. For example, the northeast is pretty well populated while other states are not. So, in NY they may have tested .0001% of the drivers (and they may be from Manhattan and don't even own a car) while in other states with a smaller population they tested .01% of the people. Figures don't lie but liars figure all of the time.

I tried and got 95%.

And that was from my parents' upbringing, not Ohio's excuse for driver's ed classes in the 1980's.

I'd gladly move to FL if finances allowed, but alas...

Given the dumbness of the people who carried out this survey and of CNN who published the article, I wouldn't put too much faith into these results. We've discussed this article a few days ago...

In Southern California the problem is that a lot of drivers can't speak or read english. They get the idea of a stop sign ok, it means slow down. But more difficult signs like 'no turn on red', are useless. Or signs like '2 cars per green' on metered lanes onto the freeway. Sometimes they will acutally slow down and try to read the 2 car sign, but by that time they are on the freeway. Just remember not to ever, under any circumstances do you ever call these undocumented, unlicensed drivers any bad names. In fact when they hit your car and abandon their car, you may never know their names. Only if that stay to take advantage of the free medical care will you ever find out what their new name is. After all, you were probably driving too close in front of them, anyhow.

Yeah, even though we print the employee handbook in spanish we had to have another Spanish speaking employee to read it to one of the other employees because they couldn't read. She has got all of the proper documentation to prove she is legal, but I don't know how she took any of the immigration tests without being able to read. Believe it or not her Social Security Number came back as a match.

You know it's funny, if you'd go to any other country and you couldn't speak their language, then you'd be SOL.
