Snap-On Part #'s in question: 908CF, 609CF and 408CF

Many North American automotive technicians like to use their needle-nose pliers for removing hose clamps and/or hoses in tight engine bays. Basically, for purposes that they were not designed for. Between the shorter jaw length (better leverage) and wider jaw width, it seems like the pictured pliers should work better for hose clamps than the traditional styles of needle nose pliers. Thoughts?

Knipex Twin Grip has an extra groove that fits hose clamps perfectly and only cost $30. Great pliers.
While true, that doesn't help Critic on his quest to own every single Snap-on tool!! Just kidding Critic.

I don't think I have ever used needle nose on hose clamps. Maybe I should try if I continue not to buy an actual hose clamp tool.

I say, the more tools the better. When you find the job a particular style of pliers works for, you'll wonder how you ever did it without.

I have a pair of longish, angled needle nose from Autozone that was bought just for the purpose of extracting a bristly pig toy from a bathtub drain.

Sold (I should have them on Friday)! Of course, I just got some duck billed ones (Tsunoda) that I believe I saw on GJ.

X2. I don't use needle nose pliers for anything that requires very much force since using force on them will permanently spread the jaws and will ruin them. I've tried the off-set and duck bill pliers but I get much more use from standard needle nose pliers. That said, it's not an either-or choice, you can own all three. Or more! :giggle:

just picked upa nice set from macco. Blk zippered case, is it 10 long nose?, all abt a ft, dayglo green rubberized handles. Dont
come clean easily, strong. Replaced a straight'n curved (like hemostats) snaPon as they were Worn Out. Good set~

I use duck bill pliers quite a bit and until I got the new snap on needle nose slip joint pliers they were my go-to all around plier.

I think duck bills are quite useful for automotive work.

Dang it, now I have to order those! He is spot on, and I need to stay out of this forum lol!
Got mine today. They're nice and I look forward to trying them out on some hose clamps. Probably doing a valve cover gasket replacement on my daughter's Camry soon.
