Have anyone heard of this standard? And how can I find out which engine oil has this standard?
I have a daihatsu with a ED-JE 989 cc engine. When under warranty the dealer would use a mineral conventional 10w30 oil branded by the car maker. Warranty period is over and I'm thinking switching to a synthetic of which they (the dealer) don't have in their product line. I've been informed that the engine oil used by the dealer is a DTS K1500G standard. It is a daihatsu standard specifically designed for small engines. Oils meeting this standard should not have magnesium additives. The one offered by the dealer it's claimed to have calcium additives in place of magnesium. Other benefits marketed are a low phosphorus content.
