Today (July 25, 2011) I replaced the AMSOIL Signature Series 0w30 that was in my Camry. The odometer read 39,475 miles today when I changed the oil. I drove the car for about 55 miles today before the oil change, so the oil would be hot and the contaminants disbursed in the oil.

I'll be sending the Amsoil to Blackstone for an analysis. I'll post the results when they arrive.

This Amsoil was in the car for about 14 months (2 months longer than the one-year maximum interval recommended by Amsoil). I drove with that oil for almost 9,000 miles (actually, 120 miles shy of 9,000). Should be interesting, I think.

Looking forward to seeing how Amsoil holds up after 14 months.

The 'one year' recommendation is for those who don't drive much. It's for those short trip/stop and go drivers.

When I was in a car pool, the car didn't get a lot of miles per year,as it sat for most of the week. But it got a good run when it was my turn to drive.

A year and 9000 miles on good oil as long as it is not severe service should be fine but i would not go over that ...Gm oil monitor system can show a year but in some manuals they say if it goes over a year change it... I change mine at or before 7500 miles ot 1 year and my engines are spotless

BMW has the CBS system date set for 2 years if the driver does not reach the recommended interval.

Now that I like! Somebody knows that the oil isnt wasting away sitting in the sump!

I just drained my Amsoil ASL outta my GMC (see below) that's been in 15 months & 8k miles (now that I got the Saturn to save on gas expense). Just use the truck for towing the boat & occasional driving.

Should be fine!

I used to do two year intervals with my mom's car since she only drove about 3500 miles a year and I was running GC 0w30 in her VW Golf. The used oil analysis showed I could have gone even longer! Now that my Corvette is not a daily driver I might go to two year intervals with it as well if I end up putting less than 3 or 4k a year on it.

Sure about that?

Low miles, short trips are severe duty. 1 year OCI not recommended, for ANY oil or synthetic. No matter what the marketing guys tell you. used oil analysis prove that.

I think he meant to say that it was "aimed at" those driving conditions. But you're right, that has proven to be very tough on oil.

So I mailed the Amsoil motor oil sample to Blackstone on Wednesdsay, but still haven't gotten the emailed results yet. Last time it took just 2 days after mailing to get results. I think I may have used Priority Mail last time; this time I used First Class. The postal clerk said it might take just 2 days with First Class, same as Priority--but possibly 3 days too with either. I guess Blackstone doesn't do testing on Saturdays?

On Thursday (7/28/11) or so (a few days after my motor oil change), I did another drain-and-fill of the T-IV ATF. My previous ATF drain-and-fill (dnf) was done about 15,000 miles ago at 25,000 miles on the odometer. Actually, I did a flush back then to get that synthetic Mobil 1 ATF out of my car. It made my transmission run like krapp for the month I kept it in there. So for that month, the transmission was a 50-50 mix of T-IV and synthetic Mobil 1 ATF. Some of you experts said I could run the car fine with that mix, but trust me, the transmission had lotsa problems shifting for that month, and the problems began on the very first day. I don't know what you pluckers who gave me that advice were thinking [chuckle].

I loved the oversized oil filter advice and the synthetic motor oil advice (and loved lots of other advice here), but hated the ATF advice :-)

I had similar issues, but not with Mobil 1 ATF. It was a Mystic branded multi-vehicle import ATF. It stated on the bottle it was suitable in a bunch of different apps, including T-IV. As soon as it was in I noticed much poorer shift quality. Only ran it 1-2 thousand miles, drained, and put in real T-IV. I don't believe there's a good substitute for T-IV at this time.

Do you think your transmission suffered any permanent damage after using the Mystic ATF for 1,000 to 2,000 miles?

Does the transmissoin today shift on T-IV just as good as it used to *before* the Mystic interlude?

I suspect no damage to the AT. I hope you did a complete fluie change back to T-IV. Mobil #3309 is Mobils ATF specifically formulated for Aisin transmissions and is the supplyer of T-IV fluid.

I have gone over a year many times and no issues. My normal OCI on two cars is one year but if the mileage is low I just keep going. Amsoil products.
