THIS WAS SENT TO ME VIA E-MAIL. I DON'T KNOW IF IT WILL WORK, BUT IT'S WORTH THE TRY:

GAS WAR - an idea that WILL work

How about this??? Learn to edit and not just cut and paste forwarded text from an email???

How about this??? Get rid of your 12 MPG v8 guzzler, and go drive a Honda Fit???

How about this??? These chain letters dont work... Mass REDUCTION in use that is PERMANENT is the only signal theyll understand. Everything else evens out over time.

The prices are high because there is no-true-competition.

The only thing that could lower prices if there was an upstart company come along, drill/refine/distribute at lower and actual value prices....applying true competition.

People would flock to BITOG GAS CO. and then prices would drop.

IMHO, there are few people who can complain about gas prices as JHZR2 stated. They're either driving a ~12MPG SUVs or going to StarBucks 2-3 times daily...

Although I am brand loyal (Chevron) - All gas companies work together to keep prices relatively the same. I believe all brands buy from the same refinery in the local area...
Although I have great dislike for Mobil I don't think it would work to stop going to Mobil as most of the people I know don't and yet they make record profits. Realize that throughout last year all gas brands had their prices the same... So Mobil isn't alone in this.

I think Rev440 has a good point... We have what, 12,000 members? Lets get this BITOG Gas Co started!!!

Probably get our beehindes sued to death by other gas companies...

Man,, I remember this email floated around the ship when I was in active duty. People were telling me not to buy gas at at ExxonMobil.. some even told me there's a day called "Don't buy gas day". I snoped the **** out of them.

Sigh. First off,

Second, I would suggest that you follow some guidelines when posting or forwarding an email.

1. If the email has more than one exclaimation mark it's probably bogus.

2. If the email has LOTS OF CAPITAL LETTERS it is probably bogus.

3. If the email requests that you forward it to everyone you know then it's probably bogus.

4. Big businesses don't do business via chain emails. There are no computer programs that track how many times an email is forwarded, let alone by whom. Bill Gates is not giving you $1000, and Disney is not giving you a free vacation.

5. There is no kidney theft ring in New Orleans or anywhere else. No one is waking up in a bathtub full of ice, even if a friend of a friend swears it happened to their cousin wifes brother.

6. If the latest NASA rocket disaster(s) did contain plutonium that went to particulate over the eastern seaboard, do you REALLY think this information would reach the public via an AOL chain letter?

7. If you still absolutely must forward that 10th-generation message from a friend, at least have the decency to trim the eight miles of headers showing everyone else who's received it over the last 6 months. (think cut and paste) It sure wouldn't hurt to get rid of all the ">>>..." that begin each line either. Besides, if it has gone around that many times we've probably already seen it.

Bottom Line...composing email or posting something on the Internet is as easy as writing on the walls of a public rest room. Don't automatically believe it until it's proven false...ASSUME it's false, unless there is proof that it's true.

Now copy, paste, and send this to everyone you know or the program I just put on your hard drive while you read this post will open up your CD drive and reach out and hit you over the head!
