Dog seizures

Our Sheltie was having seizures shortly after we got him... the medicine from the vet didn’t work but someone suggested giving him scrambled eggs. That seemed to do it, within a month he stopped having seizures... maybe he just grew out of it, maybe the medicine had a delayed effect even though we had stopped giving him to him.... but at worst he got some delicious eggs out of it.

My daughters black lab got bad suddenly into seizures. Drooling whimpering peeing on floor shaking ect. A real mess. She took him into a neurologist vet. First question was dope. Grass is a primary cause he said in most cases coming on suddenly . He said dogs gobble the owners stash especially when it’s growing out back. we then went into the narcotics for life discussion , ( he can’t take predizone) when she mentioned the FLEA COLLAR he had previously been wearing.
That’s when the dr said oh darn I should have asked about that. He said the little statement about reactions concerning interactions with PERMETHERIN ( the active ingredient) is grossly understated by those companies and is a major cause of dogs suddenly having seizures. Then he went on to say that in and of itself it’s pretty harmless UNLESS the dog has a predisposition for seizures but it will easily tip the scales . Labs are infamous for seizures it seems. Foods in his case also affected him so he gets special stuff that stinks like rotten fish. He still gets a tad twitchy sometimes but as vet said snap your fingers or call his name and they usually snap right out. Also watch out for those safety collars with the LED that flash. He said that will trigger sudden bursts of seizure as well.
Figuring out pet allergies takes time and experimentation . Try different foods And write down anything noteworthy , look for trends ect...... Any of these that the shrink dock spoke of could be or be a partial trigger or not and to varying degrees So all you can do is experiment. Hopefully you can get things under control enough to avoid both steroids or narcotics
