Does stalling the engine when driving a manual hurt the oil or engine components?

I'm trying to teach a friend of mine how to drive a manual transmission and let's just say he's not doing very well.

What adverse effects will stalling the engine have on the oil and engine components? Is stalling the engine as bad as lugging the engine?

Its hard on bearings. High speed, low load, high viscosity is good. Low speed (stalling) and high load {pretty high at stall) are bad. How bad-who knows

I wouldn't let him proctice on my good vehicle.

Also, lots of wear on the thrust bearing. Low oil pressure has a hard time keeping an oil film on it when low rpm and high load of lugging or stalling.
