As for the original question, it has been asked and answered many times here, Engine oil in a sealed container does not go bad.
It may not meet the spec of modern engines, some ingredients may settle out over time, and some moisture may be absorbed, but the biggest risk of old oil is their containers failing and leaking oil all over the place.
Anecdotal evidence, but I have used oil that was 7 years old (some Pennzoil Platinum made in 2009) in my 2012 Scion with no concerns.
Was a bit odd using an oil that was older than the vehicle it was going in, but it met the spec so I used it.
