Do you want a job here?

Once my kids are old enough to begin working, I will tell them to take up something where you are fixing mechanical "whatever" for people that will pay for it.
They will make a fortune. People don't give a crud anymore on fixing anything.
Now, get off my lawn! (38 years old)

College is great but if everyone goes to college then all you have are highly educated $7.50 sock employees. Taiwan has a big problem of higher education saturation. You can be the first guy called on a job interview to sweep the gutters if you have the right masters degree.

^This. Whenever the "well in Germany they have free college" topic comes up among friends the first thing I ask is if they realize that you go to college there if your testing determines you're suited for college, not just because you want to.

Or maybe the people who felt folding socks manually was beneath them, or that they didn't need to do a good job at it?

Daily wine is also good for overall longevity.

The company that makes these machines is lobbying for a higher minimum wage so that they can convert to making and packaging hamburgers and french fries.

If manufacturing comes back to the US no one is going to want to take a pay cut and go back to the minimum wage.

The people playing with the tax code will decide what happens, next.

You should see what gets spent to make IC's.

Amazing that most all of the RV's are mostly manufactured my Amish with an 8th grade education, this even includes the high end motorhomes, and the custom mde models.

Like it's any different at the office you work in.
People are disgusting creatures.

And thus is the reason why I wash my hands constantly and sanitize them, wipe my keyboard etc etc etc.

I can't really sanitize the food I eat at a restaurant can I?

Will self driving semis pay into social security, state and federal income tax? How many semi drivers are there?
There will be a robot tax.

I know a man with an eighth grade education that owns a ranch and the guy is one of the smartest people I have ever met. An idiot with an education will never be anymore than an educated idiot.

Agreed, I know men with nothing but grade school education who are millionaires, and I know guys who pull down six figures a year doing trade work with grade school education.

I also have a ton of friends back east with masters degrees, living in their parents basement doing nothing with their lives, and up to their eyeballs in debt.

I agree with the above 2 posts, but I'm posting about the hundreds here who are in manufacturing and furnitute production.

A rancher here and there and some grade school millionaires versus what I'm posting about are 2 completely different animals!

And until you get to 7-figure bus conversions, the quality is something that would have had workers in the Soviet Union hanging their heads in shame. The first six months of use is usually spent fixing the problems.

Just what do you base that statement on? I live in the RV Capital & know most of the companies & have worked for some as well! But always in management.

We have local manufacturing however it requires you pretty much attend community college it's all complex stuff.

Better than paying them welfare isn't it?

Unionize and make more money like the good old days. Corporate greed is slowly killing the goose that laid the golden egg for them. Not everyone can do skilled trade/college educated jobs. Should a hard-working person be allowed to starve or go on public assistance at taxpayer expense over getting paid decently? If more people made good money more stuff can be sold. Free trade has been a disaster for this country. A good example is the new Silverado truck, which has a 45% domestic parts content. You would think all those Mexican parts would save the consumer money, but they are more expensive than ever.

Some unions are good, some are bad.

Some blame unions for the offshoring of American manufacturing and jobs. I do agree you have better benefits with a union.

What is amazing about that? Larger items will remain in US/Canada/Mexico because shipment makes no sense.

We seem to pay for corporate welfare with tax bribes and incentives to keep stuff made here. It seems like enablement if these employeers just take the cash for profit and don't contribute back into workers education. Lots of garbage employers out there now that take advantage not just employees but taxpayers.
