Do you think Napa Silver oil filters can last 10k?

In my area, the ZTEC filters are the same price. The XG3600 will fit. The difference is a 2 psi lower relief valve setting.
Ford replaced the FL2005 and FL400 with the FL400s. The FL400s has the ADBV from the FL2005. I haven't been able to find a spec for the relief pressure for the FL400s.
The Wix 51315 replcaement for the FL2005 uses the same 16 psi ADBV pressure. The Fram TG8316 is 2 psi lower at 14.
The Wix 51516 replacement for the FL400 is 8-11 psi and the Fram TG3600 and XG3600 are 12 psi.
Wix lists only the 51516 as a replacement for the FL400s when doing a cross reference look up. Fram lists both the xx8316 and xx3600 as replacements to the FL400s.

Fram would not go as far as to say the XG3600 is safe to use on my focus because the TG8316 is the replacement for the FL2005, But they assured me the XG3600 is the replacement for the FL400s and the FL400.

For my Truck, The FL820s has a relief of 20 psi. The Napa Gold is 23 psi and the Fram XG2 is 12 psi. That is a lot different than the 2 psi for the xx3600 compared to the xx8316.

Interestingly though, online it says out of stock in the store I went to, but there was at least one other TG8316 on the shelf besides the one I got. And while I was there, I saw a can of death in a Bosch D+ box.

Better cross my fingers!

I do like the oil change sticker they include in the box, though.

That is Walmart for you.

The TG will work just fine for you. The TG has been the quietest "higher efficiency" filter that I have tried for my Jeep, but it still isn't as quiet as the factory Mopar filter. This is why I am giving a Napa Silver a try one my next OCI. I am only running it for about 3500 though.

The Fram 8316 has a much thicker can and much higher bypass than the 3600's. They fit just fine on 3600/FL400 applications, but I tried one and the high bypass was a problem at start up on my Jeep. My understanding is the 8316's fit some diesel applications that operate at much higher oil pressures than your typical gasser engine.

The 8316 is used on the Jeep Liberty diesel. Fram only lists the diesel Liberty, and the Zetec Fords. Wix and Purolator say the same.

Great information! Do you by any chance have M1 and Purolator specs?

M1-211 for the Zetec, interchange with the FL2005
Purolator 25230

M1-209 for the FL400s
Purolator 20195

Anyway, Ford's consolidation to the 400s was probably just a cost-cutting measure once all the Zetecs were out-of-warranty, so they could only make and carry one filter instead of two. Purolator, the MC filter supplier, probably didn't feel like making it anymore.

Notice that the others (Wix, Fram, Hastings, M1, etc) still specify separate filters for the 2005 and 400s. Now you'd think the cardboard king would be the one to consolidate filters (just use 3600 for both), but even *they* recognize the need for the higher pressure setting. That's because they're not interchangeable.

I used an M1-209 (Mobil 1 filter for the FL400s) and the engine was grumpy at startup. Nobody carried the 211, so I had no choice. The Napa Platinum 41315 on it now has no problems

Also worth mentioning:

Fram's 8316 filters are shorter in length than the 3600's are.

The 8316 is about the same length as the Motorcraft FL400s, while the longer 3600 is the same size as the per-consolidation 400s and 2005 (both of them used to be longer).

All the Wix and Purolator filter for both applications (eg 51315, 51516, 20195, 25230) are the same longer length as Fram's 3600. Both of the MC filters used to be this long as well.

I have not been able to find specs on the Mobile 1 filters. And I have not looked up Purolator. With the tear issues, I am not planning to try them. The Fram/Champ Labs customer service department said all he could tell me was it's 99% efficient at 20 microns. They were happy to give me info on the Fram filters though.
Ford consolidated because the specs where close, and were used on a lot of other vehicles. It simplified part numbers and lowered over all production cost. It had nothing to do with ZTEC warranties. It is just more confusing with the Focus and Escort because they used both filters before. The ZTEC used the FL2005 and the SOHC used the FL400. After consolidating the filters, both now use the FL400s.

I have seen some specs for the relief valve pressure on the FL400s, But they are not consistent. I have seen it listed as 8-11, 10-14 and 14-20.

I just looked up The Purolator filters since they make the Motocraft filters. For my 2002 Focus with a ZTEC The application guide shows the L20195 and PL20195 as the filter to use. They show the SOHC engine using the same filters. The cross reference for the FL400s and FL400 shows the L20195 as well. The cross reference for the FL2005 says to use a L25230. The size and specs for the 25230 and 20195 are exactly the same. It does look different in the picture though.

The L20195, PL20195, L25230 and PL25230 all have a relieve valve pressure of 12-15 psi. That put them in the middle of the 2 different Wix filters and kind of in the middle of the Fram filters.
