Dex-Cool in a 2002 Maxima

I am about to change the antifreeze in my maxima. I would like to change it over to Dex-cool so I have only 1 fluid to keep for top offs. I changed over my '96 explorer 7 years ago with out any problems.162k miles on original water pump. From what I have read I should be ok. Any thoughts on this. Ray

Yep, and still transparent as new now at 20+ months in use. At $6.88/gallon, WalMart's Prestone-made SuperTech has to be the sleeper bargain in a dexclone.

In fact, Ray H has been running Super Tech which is a green colored Dex-Cool clone. On 9/3/2006, he will have had it in for 2 years. The only reason I know that date is because it is my birthday, lol.

In the very unlikely event you can find Nissan antifreeze at considerably less than dealership extortionist pricing, DEX-COOL(tm) or a dexclone should be fine. (Despite Ford's objections to DEX-COOL in most corporate applications, your results are very strong evidence that Ford's official position is misguided at best and disingenuous at worst.)

Probably too late. But I will never use DexCool in an "open system" (non-pressurised overflow tank) again. The Naysayers about DexCool were right in my opinion regarding this.

I changed from Nissan Coolant (Nissan Sentra) to DexBrick after about 15K miles and about 50K miles my heater core needed to be replaced because it was gunked up.

Back to Nissan Coolant for me.

How so? My Olds minvan is approaching 160,000 miles with the original radiator and water pump. The overflow tank is non pressurized; the radiator has the pressure cap. Factory fill of Dexcool was changed at 114,000 miles and Dexcool was put back in. No problems.
