Denso starter cheap repair

This will apply to many brands that use the nippo denso starter. Dodge dakota, dodges with cummins diesels, toyotas, hondas, etc with that type of starter.

They have a common failure mode where the stater just clicks or clicks many times then will start.

This is caused by erosion of solenoid contacts. They are available at toyota parts. You dont even need the car or part number, its so common just ask for starter contacts.

There is a web site that has these parts available with photos on how to do it.

It took me 5 minutes to change the contacts after I had the starter out of the car.

These starters usually cost from 100-170 rebuilt 200+ for new.
