The results "may" have been similar with a mineral based oil however the superior film strength of the full synthetic base stock, innate metal attraction and higher level of additive certainly would be positive with respect to providing additional protection in a situation such as this. With the synthetics higher dipole, the synthetic base definately 'sticks' to metal longer, better than a mineral oil base stock oil. Delvac 1 (or other high quality Group IV synthetic diesel engine oil) was certainly contributory in the positive results...
