This may seem weird, but I had a question regarding whether or not I'm interpreting this right: Mobil reports that 1. the HTHS for Delvac 1 ESP 5W-40 is 3.8 2. This fluid meets VDS 4.5 https://www.mobil.com/en/lubricants...cants/products/mobil-delvac-1-esp-5w-40/ I looked up the VDS 4.5 spec via the Afton handbook: https://www.aftonchemical.com/Afton/media/PdfFiles/Afton-Chemical-Spec-Handbook-September-2019.pdf On page 275, it says that the post-cycling HTHS for xW-40 has to be 3.9 or higher, I believe. I think I'm reading that right, otherwise it's 3.9 for "spec number" 97488-15 (at the top.) So prior to cycling, it's 3.8, and after cycling its >3.9? it thickened?

Spoke too quickly - sorry. To me it looks like the 3.4 minimum is for using test method ASTM D4683 and the 3.9 minimum is for test method CEC L-36-90. The Mobil product brochure states that their number is when using ASTM D4683.
