Would the Delo 400 with Moly as indicated on this forum, Chevron has reformulated be a better oil than a syn/blend oil. I was thinking of using the Delo 400 with one quart Mobil SUV 5w-40 and have the same results as with synthetic oil and go with a 7500 mile OCI. That would save on cost and still have the same protection.

I think you could cut costs even more by just running the Delo 400. Without a couple of UOA there is no way to say whether the Mobil 1 T&S will hurt or help. The Delo 400 is a very robust oil.

Yeah, Mamala Bay, I'd run just 100% Delo400 ... especially considering the fact you are in Hawaii and don't have to deal with winter weather.

I'd run one moderate interval, drain it then run a 2nd interval and then do a UOA to see how things are holding up.

The only worry I'd have in your neck of the woods is ingesting sodium (sea salt) ... but I'd bet the additive package in these dual use oils would be the best at handling this kind of contamination and preventing corosion.

I gotta say I agree with the thoughts given and that Delo with Mo seems to be a good oil.

Pretty soon it will be in my turbo mixed 50/50 with Amsoil 15W-40!

You could run Delo 400 for six months easily regardless of miles, and if you did a UOA just to be on the safe side, I don't think 12 month intervals would be out of the question, great oil no doubt.

I pick mine up at a Chevron Distribution Center. They sell the Delo400 in 10wt-30, 15wt-40, 30wt and 40wt.

I asked Chevron why they didn't sell the other weights at Walmart and other outlets is cause they need advertisement( cost $$$) and it sells to slow. Their main sales are in 50 gl drums.

I think eventually Delo 400 in different weights will be available at different location. Takes time especially without advertisement.

Does the 10W30 have the same additive package that the 15W40 does?

I ask that same question awhile back and they did say the Delo400 was same or very close to it in different weights. Will ask again for the new formulation.

I'd guess that it would be more trouble than it's worth to have a different additive package for the different weights of Delo ... but please, let us know what you find.

Until diesels are more popular in North America, I'd guess that Delo400 will be rare in weights other than 15W-40 and straight 30.

I wish I had a Chevron distribution center near me.

Jelly do you know if a person can go there and purchase Chevron Supreme by the quart? There one near me but it doesn't sell Supreme by the quart.

The distributor near me sells Delo 400 10W-30 in quarts, but you have to buy a case of 6.

For anyone looking for a Chevron distributor, this may save you some time: Chevron where to buy page

Call Chevron, get through the initial customer service people, and talk to the "real guys" at the Lube Tech hotline, who didn't have an exact answer at the time when confronting them with this issue.

After awhile, they got back to me:

"I got in contact with the formulators of this product who have informed me that the current packaging is incorrect and the new packaging has been changed to reflect proper information".

Check here: Delo 400 15w-40 PDS

This is the latest PDS dated December 22, 2004 and lists several new approvals.

Guess they're still lying to us about Delo 400 meeting ACEA A3, right?
