This was driven in morning temperatures as low as 40F in Spring and now in the Fall. Summer temps were typically in the 90's. I drive it to and from work daily, 12 miles each way. It gets around 19-20 mpg, mostly city driving. I had been using Mobil 1 10w30 until last fall. I noticed no change in fuel economy when I switched to Delo, still gets 27-28 mpg on the highway.

Nice report. Just curious, what made you chose this oil for this car? Any TBN?

More proof of my theory that the LS1 likes an oil that is in the range of a high 30 to mid 40wt oil.

buster,

I had been a Mobil 1 user for about 10 years before I found this site. LS1 UOA's don't look particularly good with Mobil 1, so I decided to try Delo. I am also in the thicker is better than thinner camp, especially if you beat on the car and it is hot, say 90F+. I use Delo 15w40 in the summer and Delo 10w30 in the winter.

I didn't get a TBN because I don't intend to go beyond 4000 miles with Delo.

Good report. You can run this diesel dino almost as long as a synthetic. This was a good choice especially if you are on a budget.

What about the copper ? Is that a decent level for this engine or something ?

Sands... it seems normal based on the other UOA's I've seen. Maybe there's an oil cooler or something such on this engine which leeches copper.

If it's not an oil cooler issue, something is obviously giving up the wear...

Why such low miles for a 02. I have a 04 with that and don't drive it much. Did the car sit or was used sparingly for a while. If any of these are true then the DELO is a even better choice.

FuelTankerMan:

Got a question!

Was wondering what gas stations you think sell the best gas. I always thought gas was all the same and used to buy the cheapest until the recent price increases. I started to research and found that the ethanol in gas is not good for mileage. Any good info or previous posts you made would be appreciated.

LS1 engines shed a lot of copper when they are new, it comes from the cam bearings. It settles down once they get past around 30-50k. My LS1 now shows only about 3ppm of copper in an 8k interval. (on the last report it had 51k on it)

I have been running the Delo 15/40 NEW FORMULA in my RMZ 450(mx bike, shared sumps) the last 5 oil changes. I like the numbers on the Delo and the clutch is performing without a hitch. If a clutch has the slightest slip I AM ON IT!! MOLY MOLY MOLY oh yeah!!!!!
