Well, I am a member of a site for Chryco cars called Allpar, and today I was reading a thread where this one guy absolutely was trashing Bob and BITOG.
So, after taking a minute to calm down a little, I fired off the following:quote:
To be honest I've used the [lucas]oil stabilizer about 4 years now and it hasn't ruined my engine. That bobistheoilguy site isn't too accurate. He is nothing but an Amsoil preacher. Amsoil is a great product but that guy is just weird. He goes out of his way to make contraptions to bash other products. He had some problems with someone before anyway and was banned from a forum or few and threatened with law suits. Plus just go to a truck stop and ask some of the truckers with 800k miles on their semis about Lucas oils. And as far as it foaming I run my engine up to complete warm temperatures then pull the oil drain plug. My oil with lucas comes out looking the same as regular oil. No foam. I only use it because my engine has 157k on it and sounds like it without it.
If there are any other people here who are members of Allpar, go read the post at http://www.allpar.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=29699 , and go give that guy an attitude check!!!quote:
Keith, if you actually read anything from the BITOG site, Bob is a Schaeffer's products "preacher", and then still he is not really that.
As to the accuracy of the site, there are physicists, mechanics, scientists, lube engineers, oil tribologists, dealers, and normal people there. BITOG is one of the few places you can go to actually learn something about car fluids, and have the data be accurate, as some of the key members are a part of the manufacture and/or design of the fluids you use.
Bob is very curious about oil and all of the other auto fluids, and this is why he makes these "contraptions". He is not trying to "bash" other products, merely test their legitimacy. Besides, what is wrong with having curiosity about what goes into your car, as it is a big investment, and something you want to keep safe while you have it, and would like it to last??
I do not know for certain the issues about the forum or law suits, but knowing him, I would seriously doubt it.
As for the Lucas products, their use in Semis has little to do with their use in normal vehicles, as they see much different uses, and are designed very differently.
As for your use of Lucas products foaming, your test is not going to give you anything accurate, as foam rises to the top of whatever fluid it is in, and you are draining the fluid first from the bottom. Of course you are going to see normal looking oil, because the foam will stick to the sides and bottom of your oil pan, since it will not come out with the oil...
As to whether it works or not, I have no opinion. I have found products that I am happy with, and do not need to criticize others without provocation.
Maybe next time you can get your facts straight before you go in swinging...
