I do like the dust shields - they keep all kinds of debris out of the engine compartment and transmission area, even if they aren’t structural at all. And the reduction in wind noise is something I enjoy daily AND I like spare change in my pocket so I’ll take the 0.3 mpg those things afford. With good syn oil, it’s not like I’ve to be under it every month. Zip ties are not the worst idea.

Maybe you could find a used shield with the hardware at a decent price .
