How do you like your CX-30? I'm debating on replacing the Tiguan and that's on my short list.

I have a cx5 with the turbo and love it. While getting the oil changed, I looked at a cx30. My impression was that it's a very nice vehicle, but it's pretty small, imo. If you don't need the ground clearance, a sedan would be better.

I really like it. I'd like it even more with a turbo. Handles well, rides well, great AWD, and a very nice interior.

Put me in the camp that says anything smaller than CX5, CRV, Rav4, ect is better served with compact sedans.

How does the 2.5 perform? The reason I like the CX-30 is the traditional powertrain - everything else in this segment has a little turbo and the lag drives me crazy.

It appears the packaging allows for more rear seat room and a lot more versatility with cargo over a compact sedan.

Maybe so, but a CX-5 does all that so much better. Dimensions on the CX-5, Rav 4 ect are just about perfect IMO. A CX30 seems to only accomplish a small money savings at purchase time, something a sedan would save even more of. You save what 10% on a CX30 vs CX-5? Just keep driving that old junker for another 6 months and you can have the better CX-5.

if only any of them came with manual and turbo.. I'd be on it.

my take .. some people like smaller cars..
I didnt understand when I was younger I got a slightly used ford taurus cheaper than my buddy got an escort zx2.(used).
it was "so much more car" for the money but he loved his zx2.

There is no lag. It drives like a mid 90s Lt1 except with an amazing transmission with perfect gearing.

Wondering how difficult an add on turbo would be for a 2.5 g. Finding someone to add the factory turbo tune might be an issue.

From what I understand the CX30 is targeted towards single and newly married couples. It’s bigger audience is in Asia. There it will have the 2.0 SkyActiv engine which get excellent fuel economy. Same for Europe.

It’s another option for consumers and that’s good.

I prefer a smaller car. The two kids fit well in the back. CX-5 is a bit more ideal, but I do like the smaller size of the CX-30. I'd consider a CX-30/3 turbo in a few years. I want to see the performance numbers and how well the AT handles the power.

Many of these cars are developed with China in mind first of all. Then after they gauge interest elsewhere, they introduce it to other markets. BMW developed X1 with FWD platform only for China. Then they figured that they might make money in other markets.

Lots better vehicles out there. I am sure the 250HP engine is wild. my 18' Forester XT is pretty satisfying. I would consider the Subaru crosstrek..Superior handling, awd, rear visibility and with the upgrades 2.5 liter from the 2.0 more than enough power. This vehicle recorded the highest crash tests in the more stringent Japanese tests.

Drive one.

I'm sure that engine will be a blast in this car. I got rid of my CX-3 because that 2.0 wasn't enough for that car. Apparently Mazda listened to the complaints. Too bad they removed some of the character from the body for the CX-30. It's way too CX-5 now.

Meanwhile, Mazda is selling these like hot cakes. It has been a big hit for them despite what has happened the past several months.
