Is there a website I can go to to find out what filter is recommended for my Mercruiser 4.3L that would also show cross references for other brands as well?
Baldwin and WIX have some of the most comprehensive listings. About your boat engine...you might start with the OEM filter and cross reference that number.
Ken is correct. The Wix filter look up includes mercruiser ..if you select Off Highway Equpment in the "type of vehicle" field. Run the same filter through Baldwin and it will give you options if there are any.
Thanks for the help guys.. I bought a WIX and installed today. Anybody know what issues there are in leaving a motor sit without oil? Had the oil out of the boat for about a week and wondered if that was not a good thing to do.

Whatever sufaces that were immersed with oil a week ago still had a light film of same on them over the past week, so those components were never really "without" oil, even if just a thin film. I lubed my garage door's hinge points 6 months ago with motor oil, and today those areas are still damp.
